With the aim of sending a message of peace and unity at a key moment for humanity, the We Play for Peace match will be played at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on November 14.

It will feature top soccer stars who will pay tribute to Maradona. Ignacio Alonso, a graduate in Business Administration and Accounting, with more than 20 years of experience in international business development, talked to iProUP to tell him details of the event.
Alonso has worked in international organizations in Europe, Asia and Latin America, where he acquired experience in multi-project management.Currently, the entrepreneur is Coo of Moneyfi Technologies LTD, the organization behind the Match for Peace event.

The match will be in support of the Scholas Occurrentes foundation promoted by Pope Francis, and for this reason, special NFT collections of Diego Maradona and different world-renowned soccer players have gone on sale.

The match will be a tribute to Diego Maradona and, for this reason, NFTs with images of the soccer star have already been released.

NFT: Bringing sport and the Vatican together

The first edition of We Play for Peace was inspired in April 2013, following a conversation between Argentine soccer player Javier Zanetti and the pontiff, in which the latter conveyed to him the idea of organizing the match.

“We Play for Peace is a well-known event. Now we are celebrating the third edition, which could not be held before because of Maradona’s health and the pandemic,” he says.

In previous editions, soccer legends such as Diego Maradona, Javier Mascherano, Ronaldinho, Roberto Baggio, David Trezeguet, Francesco Totti, Andrea Pirlo, Diego Simeone, among others, participated.

"This year it is destined to support the work of the Recurrent Schools, which is a Foundation of Pontifical Right belonging to the Vatinano, in fact, it is a dream that the Pope himself had when he was still Bergoglio," Alonso said.

All proceeds will go to the foundation. What’s interesting and what made the NFT is that the three pillars of the organization are: art, education and technology.

“Simply put, it is the process by which an issuer creates digital tokens on a blockchain network, which represent digital or physical assets. Blockchain ensures that once someone buys tokens that represent an asset, no authority can erase or change their ownership; the ownership of that asset remains completely immutable.”
